Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR)

The CEFR serves as a kind of comparative benchmark for classifying language skills.

All courses offered by the Language Centre of the University of Oldenburg are based on the Common European Framework of Reference. However, the language courses cannot be assigned to individual levels.

Course level of individual competence levels

Elementary language proficiency

A1: Simple communication is possible.

A2: Everyday situations can be routinely implemented and described.

Independent command of the language

B1: Linguistic and intercultural competence in the target language, simplified rendering of the main points of specialised texts.

B2: Study abroad in the target language is increasingly possible on a receptive basis, although help is needed in oral and written confrontation in the target language.

Competent command of the language

C1: Study in the target language is possible without difficulty.

C2: Almost all situations in the target language can be mastered linguistically and interculturally.
