Project B - Microphone arrays

Project B - Microphone arrays

Multi-channel signal processing for networked and spatially distributed microphones

In many speech communication applications, the speech signal recorded using the microphones is corrupted by background noise, interfering speakers and reverberation. This may lead to a significant reduction of speech intelligibility, especially for hearing impaired listeners.

The aim of this project was to develop new multi-channel techniques for spatially distributed microphones that achieve a better speech intelligibility than state-of-the-art methods in adverse acoustic environments (e.g., multiple simultaneous speakers (cocktail party scenario) or large reverberation).

Project B was finished in the first funding period and was no longer funded in the second funding period.
