Title: Synthesis and optimization of ordered-mesoporous TiO2- films loaded with ZnO nanoparticles
PROPHECY – Prozesskonzepte für die photokatalytische CO2 -Reduktion verbunden mit Life-Cycle-Analysis (September 2016- August 2019)
Since decades scientists try to bring carbon dioxide and water on a suitable semi-conducting materials under sunlight to reaction – still unsatisfied. PROPHECY is trying the following research approach: With the help of sunlight and the use of new catalyst material, CO2 and H2O should ecological and economical wise be converted into more valuable products like methan, methanol or syngas.
This project is a collaboration with colleagues at the LIKAT Rostock (photocatalytic CO2-reduction), TU Berlin (dry reforming at room temperature) and the KIT (sustainability analysis), industrial accompanied by the Siemens AG.
The aim of my particular subproject is the development of new titania-based catalyst materials. Therefore, the work is mainly focused on the preparation of ordered-mesoporous TiO2 thin films, the subsequent deposition of ZnO nanoparticles (or other co-catalysts) within its pores and the determination of its photocatalytic, optoelectronic and structural properties.
