Nicht-Anglistik-Studierende des M.Ed. Grundschule, die das Seminar 3.02.192 im Rahmen des biw051 belegen möchten, werden gebeten, sich per E-Mail bei Frau Pfingsthorn anzumelden:

Providing EFL instruction to young learners requires an approach that takes into consideration both the specific pedagogical needs in primary classrooms as well as the characteristics of FL learning processes at this age. The seminar will offer a thorough look into both knowledge sources. We will deal with various theoretical accounts that delineate the early developmental stages of EFL learning. In addition, we will discuss numerous guiding principles that aid the development of functional communicative competence in the primary classroom and analyze diverse forms of their application in classroom teaching.

Upon completion of this course students will be able to:
• Describe and discuss various subcomponents of communicative competence and their relevance in the primary classroom
• Analyze various ways to support the development of communicative competence in the primary classroom
• Describe and discuss teaching principles applied in the primary classroom
• Analyze the practicability and effectiveness of various media types and teaching formats applied in the primary classroom
• Develop and evaluate teaching activities intended for the primary classroom
• Develop a research proposal pertaining to the topic of EFL development in the context of the primary classroom
