TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
In addition to registering for the course on StudIP, please take part in two polls ("Umfragen") at the StudIP course page:
- the ANIMAL MODEL you will train on; essential for our planning
Background theoretical content will be studied in your own time BEFORE the practical part (assume 20 hours for this). You NEED TO PASS an EXAM on this content in order to continue with the practical part of the course.
The training course includes both theoretical and practical parts. The course follows the FELASA 2015 recommendations (but has no FELASA accreditation yet). The Core Modules (animal handling) provide training and education on national legislation, ethics, animal welfare and the three Rs, basic and appropriate biology, animal care, health and management, recognition of pain, suffering and distress.
Model species are rodents, birds and fish. The range of methods is according to your research field and previous training level.
Mandatory course for students and personnel dealing with experimental animals.

- the RESEARCH GROUP you will work in; this determines who will cover your fees for the course.
You will be excluded from the course if you cannot provide this information !!
We cannot tolerate any absences in the practical part, as we certify your competence to the Animal Welfare Authority (LAVES) in the end.
