Hinweise zum Inhalt der Veranstaltung für Gasthörende
This seminar will give an insight to the linguistic branch of pragmatics, in which language is seen as the performance of some kind of action (gr. pragma ‘action’) and linguistic choices are investigated in relation to their sociocultural context. We will discuss the most important theories and methodologies (e.g. Speech Act Theory, Politeness theories, Conversation and Discourse Analysis) and will focus on research studies in the new and dynamically evolving field of computer-mediated communication, cross-cultural and interlanguage pragmatics
