3.02.114 Ü Written English: Where is America Going? What has happened to the American Dream?
- Freitag: 14:00 - 16:00, wöchentlich
America at the beginning of the twenty-first century is not only beset with problems (what country is not?), but to many observers, it seems to have lost its way - the economic and military giant seems to be stumbling and unsure where it is going, its national politics virtually gridlocked, its famous middle class shrinking, the infrastructure crumbling, violence seeming to be a way of life. We will examine some of the issues with the object of broadening your view of America and practicing writing at the same time.
This Written English course is one-half of the compulsory module ang311: Integrated Language Skills. The module is assessed via a portfolio, including the required work in this course: a take-home essay and a 90-minute in-class writing sample. Homework assignments will count towards "active participation". The grade from this class and the one from Spoken English will make up the grade for the module.
