Is Virtual Reality (VR) more than Games ?
The new Virtual Reality headsets technology is challenging our brains to differentiate with real life and as a result VR experiences have emerged recently, and we see more and more narrative within a user controlled world, but can we honestly say they’ve been successful? What stands out at the future for Virtual Reality ? is it a truly new type of media distinct from all previous media forms?
In this workshop, which we will attempt to answer those questions and explore the relationship between the Games world (gaming) and the Film world (video/cinema) as well as to create our own Virtual Reality experience. We will theoretically discuss and watch video and cinema experiments as well as practically create our own VR Experience for Gear VR.

The theoretical part will include discussions and screenings of:
Documentary cinema, Video art, Non linear storytelling, Passive and active user interaction and VR experiences.
The practical part will include:
Basic training in Unreal Engine - a VR and Gaming tool.
Each student will create a VR experience using the Unreal Engine tool.
The target platform for the practical part is the Samsung Gear VR headset.

Workshop requirements:
Video Editing - basic knowledge.
Photoshop - basic knowledge.
Previous knowledge in Unreal Engine is not required.
Gear VR headset are not required.
