The Department of Computing Science in Faculty II of the Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg is seeking to fill one position of
Research Scientists (PhD Candidates or Post-Doctoral Researchers)
(salary according to TV-L E13, 100%)
This position is within the interdisciplinary research project Science of Design of Societal Scale CPS, a US - German cooperation funded by the corresponding national research agencies DFG and NSF, in which researchers of the University of Oldenburg, the Technical University of Munich, the University of California at Berkeley, and Vanderbilt University from Computing Science, Electrical Engineering, and Cognitive Psychology work together to develop a Design Methodology for Human Machine Cooperation and Interaction in large scale Cyber-Physical Systems in Automotive, Avionics, and Energy applications. The position is available for an initial period of 18 months; extension is possible provided the follow-up project is granted.
The successful applicant will work under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Martin Fränzle and Prof. Dr. Werner Damm on topics of conflict resolution in societal-scale human-cyber-physical systems. She or he will also contribute to writing the follow-up proposal.
Candidates are required to have an academic university degree (Master or equivalent) in computer science, control, systems theory and engineering, or related subjects, excellent grades, and a solid scientific background in semi-formal or formal approaches to the description of the dynamics of complex systems. Candidates with good knowledge in at least one of the following fields are preferable: Game theory, algorithmic synthesis of strategies, logics of dynamics, knowledge, and belief, like temporal or epistemic logic, formal methods for design and analysis of multi-agent systems. Post Doc Researchers must in addition hold a PhD or equivalent in these topics.
