The Department of Special Needs Education and Rehabilitation of the School of Educational and Social Sciences (Faculty I) has a vacancy for junior professor. Applications are invited from outstanding young scholars with excellent credentials, as well as didactic and social skills, to engage in research and teaching. In the research domain, the successful candidate will further develop the profile of the Faculty (Participation and Education) and that of the Department (Participation and Dropout in Education and Rehabilitation) with his or her own empirical contributions, and will support research efforts of the Association of Education Sciences and Didactics under the auspices of the Didactics Centre. Evidence-based research focusing on the field of special education is preferred. Teaching duties will include developing the full range of the discipline, with special attention paid to inclusive and didactic topics (cross-category Bachelor's in Special Needs Education/Master of Education in Special Needs Education, Master in Rehabilitation Pedagogy, specialisation in Inclusion). Candidates are also expected to have practical experience with special education support in schools and other contexts. The appointments will be made on the basis of proven scholarly excellence and a good match with the research profile.

Junior professor (W1) 'Didactics of Inclusive Education'

The appointment will initially be for a period of three years. Subject to a positive evaluation, the term may be extended for another three years.

The successful candidate has a university degree in Special Needs Education, relevant experience in theory-driven empirical research on Special Needs Education, teaching and research experience in special education, and publications in these fields. Further, experience in obtaining external funding and in collaborative projects is required. Applicants are specifically required to have research and teaching experience in the special education subject areas 'Didactics and imparting skills in an inclusive school' and 'Co-teaching and curricular cooperation of teachers of different systems in inclusive schools'.

The Faculty aims to promote the further internationalisation of teacher training. International experience and contributions to research and education are therefore an advantage. Applications from abroad will be welcome.

The conditions for employment are derived from Section 30 Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz (NHG). An individual may only be appointed to a professorship with teaching duties if he or she can demonstrate at least three years of practical experience in schools, other appropriate teaching experience, or relevant experience in empirical research.

As the University of Bremen and the University of Oldenburg are bound to a cooperation agreement, active participation is expected in this venture.
