In the new to establish Junior Research Group, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Oldenburg, Germany, a position is available for a

PhD student

Salary will be according to TV-L level E 13 (65 %). The position is initially available for three years and is expected to result in a PhD degree. Presumably, the position will be available starting from October or November 2017.

The Junior Research Group will be based in the neurosensory and medical sciences. It will offer the unique possibility to bridge between the research groups of Biochemistry, Human Genetics and hospitals associated with the University of Oldenburg. Using state-of-the-art biochemical and genetic technologies to characterize the molecular basis of inherited diseases in the field of neurosensory diseases we also aim to understand the pathogenic mechanisms and develop therapies to treat patients' conditions.

The position offers to work in an excellent local and international scientific environment as well as the possibility to access internationally competitive research facilities at the Biochemistry and Human Genetics groups at the University of Oldenburg.

Highly motivated and team oriented candidates with an academic university degree (Master or equivalent) in biology, biomedical sciences or a related field are encouraged to send their application. Good spoken and written English skills are expected, basic German skills will be helpful.

The ideal candidate shows experiences in molecular genetics, molecular biology, cell culture and/or translational research. Knowledge in the methods of molecular biology, Sanger sequencing and NGS (Next Generation Sequencing), analysis of proteins with various techniques or culturing cells in vivo will be of advantage.
