European-Islamic Cultural Dialogue

Federal Foreign Office of Germany
Dialogue with the Islamic World
The Federal Government has been conducting intensive dialogue with the Islamic world since the mid-1990s. Dialogue with Islam became a political focus of the German Federal Foreign Office in the aftermath of 11 September 2001. The aim of the dialogue is to discuss values, viewpoints and opinions without trying to avoid controversy. Deep-set clichés are to be replaced by qualified perceptions and not through drawn-out exchanges at the highest level, rather through concrete projects.
