Business models to enable advanced technology to solve the global sanitation challenge
Cranfield University are developing the Nano Membrane Toilet as a household toilet which will provide safe sanitation without any need for any external water supplies, sewerage or electricity. To facilitate the implementation of this toilet in the areas of most need, that is amongst poor communities in Sub Saharan African cities, a robust business model needs to be developed.

The studentship is funded under Cranfield University’s grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Funding covering tuition fees and a stipend (£18,000 per annum) is available for applicants from anywhere in the world

This unique four-week summer program offers international students from all backgrounds practical tools, knowledge and the opportunity to broaden their professional network. The program focuses on the hi-tech ecosystem, providing an understanding of startups, the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, leadership, innovation and more.
You will enhance your careers with the following skills and experiences:
- Hands-on experience conceptualizing a technological venture
- Conducting market surveys and formulating strategies.
- Presenting a Start-up Pitch and getting feedback from investors and professionals
- Expanding professional network through face-to- face meetings with business leaders in Israel,
including leading figures from multinational companies, venture capitalists, investors and successful entrepreneurs.
You will be able to enjoy:
- Events such as Hackathons and Entrepreneurship on the Bar
- Field trips exploring many aspects of the Israeli business ecosystem
- Vibrant student life, weekend trips throughout Israel and snorkeling in Eilat!
Two intensive courses will enable students to translate ideas into successful business ventures.
From Idea to Start-Up (3-credit course)
Develop the skills and tools necessary for initiating and sustaining a new business venture, based on ideas generated by the program participants.
Leadership in Organizations (4-credit course)
Learn how to be an effective and inspired leader within the framework of an innovation ecosystem. Innovation Lecture Series Gather ideas and tips from accomplished experts in the field of innovation through a set of enriching lectures.
