The department is led by an elected committee. The department council is composed of 12 representatives from all levels of the university and is charged with making all essential decisions. The thirteenth member of the council is the department director, who, along with the chair of the departmental assembly, represents the department in external matters. The department director has three deputies who come from the other former institutes.
