Description

Material culture is essential for any attempt at approaching societies of the past. In particular, this is true for ancient civilisation, from which often not a single written source has come upon us. Studying material culture requires access to a range of methodologies: from archaeobotany to the study of animal bones, from art history to the measuring and surveying of past landscapes through GIS. This series of workshops is intended to offer some insight in the toolbox of present-day archaeologists whose research complements the historian's study of the written evidence.
This course will be taught in English.
