Event date(s) | room

Description

Bitte kombinieren Sie dieses Seminar mit der Vorlesung 4.02.010.

The course will be mainly based on the analysis of the Professor Hans-Joachim Gehrke's concept of Intentionale Geschichte (Intentional History). This idea, usually applied to the Ancient Greek History, can also be used to underline the creating process of a cultural memory in the Roman times. More in depth, the modelling of history put into practice by the Roman power building a specific mythology or using the literary sources was always done to reach specific cultural and political aims.
Starting with a theoretical introduction about these concepts, the course will continue with the analysis of specific cases chosen from the republican times, the Augustan age and the first imperial times. Particularly, Augustus and his “circle” of writers will be the turning point around which all the course will be grounded.
