Master of Science Programme
Renewable Energy Online (REO)
A continuing education master’s degree programme on renewable energy is currently being developed at the University of Oldenburg by the Energy and Semiconductor Research Laboratory (Institute of Physics). The programme will focus on an international audience – including students from developing and emerging countries.
It is designed as a technical master programme for natural scientists encompassing 120 ECTS. The format will be a blended learning concept with probably two short periods of attendance at the University of Oldenburg, which will include laboratory courses to aid students in gaining hands-on experience. To successfully start into the master programme introductory courses will provide the opportunity to learn or refresh the basics required to study renewable energy. Within the mandatory courses an understanding of renewable energy systems, resources and sustainability will be established, and within the electives fundamentals and advanced concepts of different technologies can be studied.
The Certificates of Advanced Studies (CAS) of our continuing education programme, which will be offered soon, are planned to be the basis of the curriculum of the future master course. It is intended that ECTS, which were achieved in our CAS programmes, will be counted for the master programme.
Furthermore it will be possible to combine two CAS and one attendance phase at the University of Oldenburg to receive a Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS) awarded with 30 ECTS.
