Neurogenetics

The sense of hearing is of utmost importance for communication and survival in both human and many animals. A central aspect in hearing is the localization of sound sources. This task requires ultrafast and precise information processing in the auditory brainstem.  The research of my group focuses on genes that govern development of these sound localization circuits. Furthermore, we investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying the evolution of these circuits in mammals and birds.
