Research experience

- Investigation of activation products in medical linear accelerators. Monte Carlo (MC) Geant4 code

has been used to study different problems linked to neutron and photon Dosimetry such as:

- Estimation the activity of gases and other nuclides inside the treatment room for energies
above 10 MeV.

- Estimation the effective doses at the isocenter from photoneutron produced in linac as a

function in field size and energy.

- Direct measurements of activation products in linac using spectrometer Geni-2000 Software.

- In the field of nuclear medicine: Dealing with two Gamma Camera "Philips and ZLC- ٣٧Siemens

gamma camera modified by Hungarian Mediso" and perform quality control using Co- ٥٧ point

source for intrinsic uniformity and Co- ٥٧ disc type flood source for all system uniformity tests . The

workload was about ١٥ patients per day. In addition calculation and preparation of the therapy dose

"I- ١٣١and P-٣٢" for patients and protect both the staffs and patients from external radiation.

- In the field of radiotherapy:

Treatment planning of cancer patients by teletherapy (using ROCS and Pinnacle treatment

planning system) and brachytherapy (using ABACUS 3.1 treatment planning system for

GammaMed 12i), proper execution of the treatment.

Determination of absorbed dose to water for Cobalt- 60 gamma ray beams, high energy photon

beams and electron beams using TRS - 398, TRS- 277 Protocols.

Commissioning of Cobalt- 60 gamma ray beams (MDS-Nordion), and highenergy photon beams

and electron beams (Elekta).

Supervising and administrating of PACS system in the capacity of medical physicist.

- 12.2008 - 12.2009 Head of Radiation Protection Department: Teaching of undergraduate &

postgraduate Radiotherapy and Radiology medical students, teaching of medical physicist

trainees. Overall radiation safety, radiation monitoring and calibration of radiation equipments

in the capacity of radiation safety officer. In addition, perform quality control for diagnostic

machines such as CT, conventional xray units, mammography and dental units.
