Day 2: December 12th 2013 – 9:30 a.m. -16:30 p.m

This course may fit into your future academic or non-academic career plans and will open new perspectives.

Part I: “Only those in a network go further” – Network strategies to reach your personal objectives

Part II: “You only go further if you are prepared to learn from others” – Benefit of mentoring, how to learn from a mentor

This two day course shows at day one current methods of networking and helps you to visualize you own network. It guided you to your own network strategy which is helpful for your future career planning, e.g. finding potential or “new” job opportunities.

Networks are an ancient concept of helping yourself! Taking about yourself and your career aspirations; looking for professional circles and associations; looking for like-minded people. You only go further if you are in a network.

Day two will introduce you to the concept of mentoring to learn how mentoring works and how effective mentoring can be for your personal career.

This course is designed for young scientists at the end of their PhD. It is developed to support participants in finding out about the potential of networking and the benefit of mentoring.

The training is conducted for 7 hours with one hour break. It mixes short theory lectures with discussions and individual and small-group exercises.
