Supervision Agreement

A supervision agreement defines the relationship between a doctoral candidate and his/her supervisor. It includes the rights and duties of the doctoral candidate and his/her expectations of the supervisor. It is an individual document and can always be adapted to the current state of the doctoral work.

At the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, some doctoral degree regulations (Promotionsordnungen) require a supervision agreement. In any case, we recommend such an agreement even though the doctoral degree regulations always have priority over individual supervision agreements.

DFG-recommendation

The DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) has issued recommendations for developing a supervision agreement (Betreuungsvereinbarung) in German.
