JULIA - a 'lingua franca' for programming probabilistic models ? -

Starting with BUGS in recent years a number of Probabilistic Programming Languages have been advocated. The state-of-art overview can be found here. One of a newer alternative is JULIA. It combines features of symbolic and numeric orientated languages claiming extraordinary expressiveness and efficiency. We study with a set of 'Rosetta' examples, whether JULIA is a competitor to the SCHEME-based CHURCH or the SCALA-based FIGARO.
