Alumni Networks at the University of Oldenburg
All former students registered for the University of Oldenburg's central alumni programme benefit from our free offers. In addition to this, some of the university's departments provide further networking opportunities for their alumni. At the moment, this is true for the following departments:
The association "OLDIES - Oldenburger Informatik - Ehemalige Studierende e.V." was founded in 1998. Key issues of its work include bridge-building between present-day students, alumni, and academic staff at the Department of Computing Science. Moreover, the "OLDIES" assist graduates during the phase of initial job-hunting or in the search of co-operation partners for research projects.
The international Postgraduate Programme Renewable Energy (PPRE) has a worldwide alumni network. Offers for PPRE graduates include follow-up seminars, regional alumni meetings in different parts of the globe, a newsletter providing in-depth information, and graduation ceremonies.
Business Administration, Economics, and Law
There are more than 2,000 students enrolled at the University of Oldenburg's Department of Business Administration, Economics and Law. The association "Förderverein Wirtschafts- und Rechtswissenschaften e.V." promotes cooperation between the department and regional partners in north-western Germany. Moreover, the association is committed to further improving the department's academic resources.
Sustainability Economics and Management / Ecological Economics
Sustainability is one of the key research sectors at Oldenburg University - not only in the field of renewable energy, but also when it comes to the economic aspects of sustainable development. Since sustainability is discussed in international and interdisciplinary circles, it is crucial to build up a solid network in this field. In order to support networking, the masters programme "Sustainability Economics and Management" has its own alumni group, which is open to graduates of both the sustainability master and the "Ecological Economics" specialization.
Hanse Law School
At the moment, former students of Hanse Law School can connect with fellow alumni on the business networking websites "Linkedin" and "Xing" or via Facebook. Moreover, HLS-alumni are currently setting up their own network to offer meetings and lectures for students and graduates alike. You are welcome to get in touch with the initiators by mailing to hls-alumni(at)googlegroups.com.
