How to join the PhD Program
The PhD-programme generally is tuition free and open for all PhD-students from Magdeburg and Oldenburg. Applicants for the Graduate School and the PhD program “Neurosensory Science and Systems” must hold a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree, Diploma degree, a State Exam , 'Magister' or equivalent in biology, physics, psychology, informatics or related subjects to the topics of research. Candidates should have good English language skills. Applicants must first apply for the admission as doctorand according to the regulations of the Faculty of Mathematics and Sciences.

Each funded doctorate student is requestest to visit one international meeting per year, one national meeting and two workshops or summerschools. The SFB provides funds for participation in conferences and meetings. The research training group aims at attracting young, highly talented scientists from biology, psychology, physics and engineering to the interdisciplinary research program of the SFB/TRR 31 by providing them an orientation and a first qualification phase in a structured Ph.D. program, thesis work within one of the projects, an accompanying study program (including soft skills qualification), and an extra-university qualification phase (stay abroad or experience in clinics or industrial project with appropriate partner institutions). This will develop the students´ personality as independent researchers and will also boost their chances on the job market.
