      Abstract = {Typical engineering and verification workflows for safety--relevant systems are performed with many different tools. For such workflows safety standards like the automotive ISO 26262 require traceability of all V{\&}amp;V--related work products. Therefore, efficient tool--integration, while ensuring all traceability needs for functional safety, is a highly relevant topic for industrial domains. Recent research projects like CESAR have addressed this topic by reusing tools and methods for different workflows in the context of requirements and systems engineering as well as verification and validation. This reuse is done in a Reference Technology Platform (RTP) with common services and a common understanding of exchanged information based on an Interoperability Specification (IOS). Recently, OSLC is discussed for such an IOS. The open question is how tools are connected efficiently and how traceability is ensured. This document provides a guideline on how to use the IOS for engineering workflows performed with different tools based on OSLC. We call it recipe. The recipe was developed in the MBAT project. It considers a systematic definition of semantic concepts for an IOS ensuring traceability and the level of granularity required to perform workflows with a set of tools.} }

      Abstract = {Analyses of maritime systems are necessary to improve the efficiency and safety of the worldwide shipping lanes. Distributed simulations provide a flexible and extensible testbed for these analyses. This paper describes a HLA-based maritime co-simulation to provide and analyze data about vessel traffic motions. The co-simulation focuses on a flexible configuration, high extensibility and reusability. It comprises of an analysis component as well as simulators for the environment, human behavior and the physics of vessels. The common semantic model enables the communication of these components with its consistent set of concepts and data types. The MTS is based on a physical model for vessel motions with four degrees of freedom. Three agent types are implemented on the base of the generic agent model to show its extensibility and practical use. The evaluation of the generated vessel traffic motion data is done by comparison with real AIS data.},

      Abstract = {Powerful, flexible and cost-effective analyses of maritime systems can be conducted in an appropriate way with distributed simulations. Co-simulation components require interoperability like specified by the IEC TC/65/290/DC to insure information exchange and synchronization. Therefore this paper describes a way to insure the interoperability of co-simulations of maritime systems. User- and technical requirements for these co-simulations are derived to create a deeper understanding for especially the necessity of a common semantic model. Furthermore, six integration layers are presented for co-simulation-based analysis. They are derived from IEC TC/65/290/DC and the conceptual architecture approach for co-simulation systems. The paper introduces a semantic model approach to reflect the requirements formal description of the simulation model, observability, controllability and interoperability. The model is used to configure the inter-process communication of the used co-simulation architecture. This is done by an automatic model transformation from the semantic model to the platform specific implementation.},

      Abstract = {The commercial installation of offshore wind farms is still far fromestablished standards or procedures and sets high demands on employeesdealing with uncertainty and risks. In this paper, a model basedrisk assessment approach is presented to support the developmentof health, safety, and environment (HSE) plans for safe offshoreoperations. For this purpose, a process model is used to integrateall aspects of these complex and safety critical operations involvingmany different actors, resources, and environmental conditions. Basedon this model, we are able to identify and precisely describe hazards,quantify their safety impact, and develop risk mitigation means.To this end, we developed methods and tools to support this process,resulting in a formalization of hazardous events that can be usedto unambiguously describe the risks of a given offshore operationmodel. We will demonstrate the feasibility of our approach on a specificoffshore scenario.},

      Abstract = {Derzeit gibt es auf europ{\"a}ischer Ebene rund 340 Offshore-Windenergieprojekte mit einer anvisierten Leistung von 126 GW [1]. Davon werden nach Expertensch{\"a}tzungen bis zu 8 000 Anlagen oder 40 GW bis 2020 realisiert. Allerdings lassen sich diese ambitionierten Ziele von der noch recht jungen Offshore-Branche nur durch hochprofessionelles und durchgeplantes Handeln erreichen, da es sich um komplexe und risikoreiche Operationen mit hohen Anforderungen an Mensch und Technik handelt. Voraussichtlich werden 30 000 Fachkr{\"a}fte in den n{\"a}chsten zehn Jahren im Offshore-Sektor ben{\"o}tigt. Der Beitrag zeigt auf, wie für die Sicherheit von Mitarbeitern und Material ben{\"o}tigtes Prozesswissen über Offshore-Operationen gewonnen, beschrieben, analysiert und im Training zur Verfügung gestellt werden kann. Diese Frustration kann eine aggressive Fahrweise hervorrufen und das Unfallrisiko massiv erh{\"o}hen. M{\"o}gliche Fahrerassistenzsysteme, die diesem entgegenwirken k{\"o}nnen, m{\"u}ssten die Frustration des Fahrers also m{\"o}glichst fr{\"u}hzeitig erkennen. Da Menschen affektive Zust{\"a}nde durch Ver{\"a}nderungen in der Gesichtsmuskelaktivierung ausdrucken, scheint eine Video{\"u}berwachung des Gesichts ein erfolgsversprechender Ansatz zur Erkennung von Frustration zu sein. Folglich untersucht diese Studie, inwiefern sich das Facial Action Coding System (FACS), das einzelne Muskelbewegungen des Gesichts in Bewegungseinheiten (Action Units) einteilt, eignet um den Level an Frustration zu messen. Einunddrei{\ss}ig Probanden durchfuhren unter Zeitdruck mehrmals ein Stadtszenario im Fahrsimulator w{\"a}hrend ihr Gesicht auf Video aufgezeichnet wurde. In einem Teil der Fahrten wurden durch verkehrsbedingte Behinderungen (z.B. rote Ampel, langsames F{\"u}hrungsfahrzeug, Baustelle) bei den Probanden Frustration erzeugt (FRUST), w{\"a}hrend im Rest der Fahrten eine relativ freie Durchfahrt m{\"o}glich ist (NOFRUST). Subjektiv bewerteten die Probanden die FRUST-Fahrten als hoch signifikant negativer (Self-Assessment-Manikin-Valenzskala) und als hoch signifikant frustrierender (NASA-TLX-Frustrationsskala) als die NOFRUST-Fahrten. Zurzeit wurden das Fahrverhalten sowie die Gesichtsmuskelaktivit{\"a}t der Probanden inferenzstatistisch ausgewertet. Die Ergebnisse werden im Rahmen des Beitrags vor dem Hintergrund der Entwicklung von Fahrerassistenzsystemen diskutiert.} }

      Abstract = {The formal specification of functional requirements can often lead to inconsistency as well as unintended specification, especially in the early stages within the development process. In this paper, we present a formal model checking approach which tackles both of these problems and is also applicable during the requirements elicitation phase, in which no component model is available. The presented notion of consistency ensures the existence of at least one possible run of the system, which satisfies all requirements. To avoid trivial execution traces, the "intended" functional behavior of the requirements is triggered. The analysis is performed using model checking. More specifically, to reduce the overall analysis effort, we apply a bounded model checking scheme. If the set of requirements is inconsistent the method also identifies a maximal sub-set of consistent requirements. Alternatively, a minimal inconsistent sub-set can be computed. The approach is demonstrated on a railway crossing example using the BTC Embedded Specifier and the iSAT model checker.} }

      Abstract = {Currently, new-build vehicles are more and more equipped with various driver assistance and automation systems, ranging from adaptive-cruise-control, stop-and-go, active brake assist and emergency-brake systems for longitudinal control, blind-spot monitoring and lane-keeping systems for lateral control to parking assistance and advanced navigation systems. Through new emerging technologies, the integration of nomadic devices, Vehicle-2-X Communication in existing and new driver assistance and automation systems are the near future. The rising complexity due to more integrated, interactive and cooperative future assistance systems leads to increasing demands on driving simulators, used to develop and evaluate these devices in a time and cost efficient way. Thus, a number of driving simulators of the DLR Institute of Transportation Systems have been built or were upgraded with the major goal to provide a flexible, modular and scalable infrastructure, concerning both software and hardware, which enables a flexible set-up of the driving simulator according to the requirements of the test case ? and not vice-versa!       Note = {In complex supervisory control settings, inadequate monitoring behavior is a substantial source of human error and a risk factor threatening human life and the environment. In this paper, we present a problem--oriented approach to support a commander supervising multiple highly--automated unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to perform adequate monitoring behavior. Our approach utilizes an ambient light display (ALD) to continuously externalize the commander's monitoring performance using ambient visual cues in the peripheral field. We designed and evaluated our prototype with experts. First, we performed a workshop with 4 experts in our lab in order to discuss our monitoring behavior assessment approach, and to design light patterns, which are suitable to convey feedback on monitoring behavior. The experts were knowledgeable in usability engineering, ambient light displays, human visual perception, and unmanned aviation. Second, we installed the prototype in the lab of a leading German UAV manufacturer and performed an evaluation with 3 UAV experts. Our results indicate that our prototype can support adequate monitoring behavior of a commander supervising multiple UAVs, and does not affect workload.},

      Abstract = {This article presents a simulation based approach to provide a short-term energy demand load curve forecast in a container terminal. While common methods for forecasting electricity consumption are working well in industrial enterprises with continuous and recurrent production cycles, in a container terminal the processes are highly dynamical. That is why the most common methods are not working well, and a simulation based approach is chosen. If the energy consumption can be forecasted precisely it is possible to benefit from cheaper energy purchase prices. If the container terminal uses battery powered vehicles additional strategies to use the forecast can be employed. One possibility is to reduce the costs by using intelligent strategies for charging the batteries in a battery-exchange station where the energy consumption can be forecasted as well. The important fact is that with the exchange station the load curve can be influenced without interfering in the logistic processes of the terminal because the energy consumption of the transport vessels is decoupled from the logistic processes by the use of batteries. This is why methods like load shifting and peak clipping can be applied quite easily. First, a simulation based approach is introduced to calculate a reliable load forecast of the entire terminal and of the battery changing station. Second, several use cases are presented for how the terminal benefits from this forecast.},

      Note = {Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) promises to be an ecological and economical favourable fuel alternative for ship propulsion in comparison to heavy oil. Considering its introduction, port authorities and ship owner face a stalemate due to missing fuelling infrastructure (ship owner’s view) or missing modified ships (port’s view). Therefore, strategies must be developed that create incentives to make the step towards the new technology. This is a complex task which cannot be solved by statistical approaches since they lack temporal and spatial resolution. In order to assess the introduction of new propulsion systems in existing transportation systems (including its required infrastructure), we propose a multi-agent simulation (MAS) framework. Our approach consists of three layers which include basic functionality of a MAS, concrete agents for traffic systems and a specific implementation of ship models. We demonstrate that all relevant data in different aggregation levels can be integrated in order to assess certain setups of technical ship and infrastructure equipment and to evaluate different LNG introduction strategies.},

      Note = {Compared to conventional vehicles with combustion engines, electric vehicles have several advantages concerning sustainability and efficiency. Unfortunately, these advantages are bound to low ranges of the vehicles and long charging times due to the battery as energy source. In addition, the expensive battery increase the investment cost of the vehicle. In case of private users, these costs cannot be amortized by the relatively low electricity price due to the low utilizations of the vehicle. Car sharing could be a possible answer to deploy electric cars in urban re-gions nevertheless. The objective of our research is to assess the feasibility of exchanging conventional vehicles through electric powered ones within a car sharing fleet. The goals of this analysis are to determine possible exchange rates of the ve-hicles, to specify the required charging infrastructure and to evaluate the effect on the quality of service in terms of availability of the vehicles. In order to achieve these goals, we developed a multi-agent framework that simulates vehicles with new drive systems in existing transportations systems in general and the potential of electromobility in existing road networks in particular. In this chapter, we explain our approach and evaluate the feasibility of electric vehicles in a particular car sharing fleet operating in the city of Oldenburg, Germany. We evaluate two customer patterns: working day and weekend. The results show that the weekend scenario leads to several fuel shortages – in contrast to the working day scenario. The findings indicate that a more intelligent booking system or a quantitative ex-pansion of charging stations would lead to a higher reliability and user acceptance.},

      Abstract = {The interoperability of tools and methods is a topic being currently discussed across all engineering domains of embedded systems. The increasing amount of requirements on interoperability demands a common understanding of design artifacts which need to be accessible beyond tool boundaries. Furthermore, to support safety related development, a framework to integrate verification and validation activities has to be established. This eases early design decisions and provides support for certification processes. Different European projects tackled the subject and current ones like MBAT (Model-Based Analysis and testing) are addressing it under the form of a so called Reference Technology Platform (RTP). Nevertheless, besides theoretical discussions on interoperability standards and basic transfer technologies, few implementations of such a platform exist. Within MBAT, we integrated an automated safety analysis into our existing RTP prototype. This setup was developed for the purposes of an industrial case study calling upon a typical set of heterogeneous tools and formats like MATLAB Simulink/Stateflow, IBM Rational DOORS and EAST-ADL.       Abstract = {Drivers can cooperate with automation inside the vehicle as well as with traffic participants and intelligent infrastructure outside the vehicle. For that matter cooperation can be a successful concept for designing driver-automation or rather highly automated traffic systems. EU-Project D3CoS was aiming at related knowledge to develop a cross domain framework for design of cooperative systems. For the automotive domain this knowledge was applied to develop a Cooperative Lane Change Assistant (C-LCA) that supports drivers in dense traffic situations while performing lane changes. In this contribution theoretical background, used methods, implementation of the C-LCA, results of its evaluation and lessons learned are described.},

      Abstract = {Offshore Wind Farming is the present trend industry in Germany. Speeding up innovations in the field of safer offshore installation and maintenance work, the joint project Safe Offshore Operations was applied to develop a research network between Lower Saxony universities and non-profit research institutes for fundamental research. The main idea consists of the development of an integrated operator assistance and information system based on a self-organizing wireless computer and sensor network. Another objective of the project is the prolongation of the time frames for offshore operation, e.g. by optimization of the logistics chain and by providing more accurate information about environmental and machinery conditions. Therefore SOOP is not only focused on the work at sea. It will give better status information about the complete production process off- and onshore. As the maritime senior partner, the main part of the Jade University research consist in finding proper scenarios for teaching any system components of our partners. The test criteria and scenarios have to be defined describing all environmental difficulties, prepared and organized for testing in order to fulfill these ambitious requirements and finally verified by our own research activities. Because of the early stage of our project only the methods simulating the scenarios and their verification shall be presented and discussed by the following paper.},

      Abstract = {One of the effects of the radically changing energy market is the construction of more and more offshore wind turbines. Many new companies with different levels of experience are entering the market to meet the demand of renewable energy. To this end, we introduce a distributed simulative approach for verifying a safety concept for offshore missions to support the involved companies. In this paper, we present our vision of the emerging simulation environment and introduce the components that we currently work on. More precisely, we introduce a Physical World Simulator (PWS) that allows the simulation of the environment, persons, and resources of offshore operations. The simulator can be interconnected to other simulators and to a Failure and Hazard Observer (FHO) which we also present in the paper. The observer tracks the occurrence of hazards and thus checks if they have been considered while creating a safety concept for an offshore mission. We use the High Level Architecture (HLA) as the simulator communication interface for which we developed a helper library which also extends its features while maintaining compatibility with the standard. The simulation framework enables us to automatically verify the safety concept by performing simulation runs and injecting identified failures.},

Dieser Beitrag gibt einen {\"U}berblick {\"u}ber Assessment-Strategien der Fahreignung, und beschreibt ein angestrebtes Studiendesign, bei dem die Gehirnaktivit{\"a}ten mit Hilfe von EEG w{\"a}hrend der Fahrt aufgezeichnet und die M{\"o}glichkeit der Verbesserung der Fahrleistung durch Feedback und transkranielle Wechselstromstimulation im Auto erforscht werden soll. Der erste Ansatz und Pilotversuch zu letzterem Aspekt wird kurz vorgestellt.},

      Abstract = {Determining performance and fault tolerance properties of distributed systems is a challenging task. One common approach to quantify such properties is to construct the state space and the transition model of the distributed system that is to be evaluated. The challenge lies in the state space being exponentially large in the size of the system. One popular approach to tackle this challenge is to combine decomposition and lumping. The system is decomposed, the transition models of the subsystems are constructed and minimized by lumping bisimilar states under an equivalence relation, and the intermediate marginal transition systems are composed to construct the minimal aggregate transition model. The approach allows to circumvent the necessity to construct the full transition model while preserving the ability to compute precise measures. The decomposition yet hinges on the structure of the communication within the system. When processes do not influence each other, decomposition is trivial as it is arbitrary. On the contrary, when all processes are influenced by all other processes -\, known as heterarchical structure \,- systems cannot be decomposed at all. Between systems of independent and heterarchical processes are i) hierarchically structured systems and ii) systems that are globally hierarchical, but contain locally heterarchical subsystems. The hierarchical type has been addressed previously. This paper targets the second type -\, referred to as semi-hierarchically structured \,-, thus expanding the frontier from decomposing purely hierarchically structured systems to decomposing semi-hierarchically structured systems. Furthermore, this paper points out the role of different types of execution semantics regarding the decomposition.},

      Abstract = {Power grids are parallel systems in which consumers demand a shared resource independent of each other. A blackout occurs when the total demand increases or decreases too rapidly. This paper combines methods and concepts from three domains. The first stems from estimating the power consumption based on thermostatically controlled loads via Markov chains. The second domain provides the composition of parallel systems enriched by intermediate lumping to construct a minimal aggregate transition model, in this case of a community of housings. The third domain provides reasoning about fault tolerance properties by introducing limiting window reliability as measure, suitable to account for the continuous risk of blackouts. Combined, the three methods and concepts allow to determine the risk of blackout of a community over time.},

      Note = {In future warehouses, conveyors will operate autonomously and cooperative to fulfill transportation demands. The research project CogniLog is working towards novel cooperation strategies for continuous and discontinuous conveyors applied in warehousing scenarios. Each of these technological items is part of the decision making process on different hierarchical levels according to the complexity of the decision. The essence of CogniLog is to address the challenge, how autonomous subsystems can cooperate in a network, which is able to solve tasks a single subsystem could not, thus gaining cognitive capabilities. Key challenges are the heterogeneity of the subsystems and the dependable observability of material flows. This contribution will show approaches to overcome these challenges by using a decentralized system. Moreover, the distributed decision making process on the conveyor level, which consists of a large number of subsystems, will be addressed. },

This information flow is used to control the physical material flow. Hence, the information flow is a digital representation of the physical material flow. However, to guarantee that the digital representation is in alignment to the physical world is a challenging task. Especially for scenarios with manual operations, the representation is vulnerable for errors. This paper proposes a generic approach to assure consistency between digital and physical world. The paper presents a methodology to model the monitoring of physical entities and to analyse the model to evaluate the risk of unreliable digital representation.},

      Abstract = {Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) operate more and more autonomously and take over essential parts of the driving task, e.g., keeping safe distance or detecting hazards. Thereby they change the structure of the drivers task and thus induce a change in drivers behavior. Nevertheless it is still the driver who is ultimately responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle. Therefore it is necessary to ensure that the behavioral changes neither reduce the controllability of the vehicle nor the controllability of the hazardous events. We introduce the Threshold Uncertainty Tree Search (TUTS) algorithm as a simulation based approach to explore rare but critical driver behavior in interaction with an assistance system.       Abstract = {Maritime und vor allem Offshore-Operationen lassen sich als dynamisch und komplex beschreiben in Bezug auf die Beteiligung vieler unterschiedlicher Akteure und Ressourcen in kooperativen Prozessen und unter rauen Umweltbedingungen. Hierdurch bedingt müssen die beteiligten Akteuren mit unsicheren und risikoreichen Prozessen umgehen. In diesem Beitrag stellen wir einen Lösungsansatz vor, um solche Abläufe simulativ, d.h. vor der eigentlichen realen Durchführung auf See, testen und analysieren zu können. Ein Prozess-Modell dient dabei zunächst als Basis, um solche komplexen und dynamischen Operationen beschreiben zu können. Mittels Codegenerierung werden aus diesem Missionspläne kooperierenden Agenten, welche innerhalb einer Simulationsumgebung ausgeführt werden. Eingebettet in ein Multi-Agenten System besteht diese Umgebung im Wesentlichen aus einer 3D-Sensor-Simulation in Kombination mit einer Physik-Engine. Eine solche Multi-Agenten 3D Simulation ermöglicht somit das Testen des Verhaltens von Personal und Equipment in Interaktion mit der Umwelt bezogen auf spezifische Szenarien unter Einbeziehung physikalischer Effekte},

      Abstract = {In 2014 German maritime industry and research institutes have launched a German demonstrator and test bed for e-Maritime applications ({eMIR} – e-Maritime Integrated Reference Platform) like e-Navigation system functions. {eMIR} is a service oriented platform that provides basic services for research and industry projects to shorten time to market for new e-Maritime technologies. It is divided into a physical platform for field testing and a virtual simulation based platform for early assessment of new technologies. This paper will present a methodology for assessment of e-Maritime technologies based on the modelling and simulation framework {HAGGIS}. {HAGGIS} is the virtual representation of the physical e-Maritime test bed in the German coast. It will be used for rapid testing of new e-Maritime technologies without the need to have equipment on high seas. To realize this for the whole diversity of e-Maritime applications {HAGGIS} consists of a number of modules that can be orchestrated for different applications. Amongst others with the {HAGGIS} framework it is for example possible to assess the development of new bridge designs including new working procedures considering situation awareness as well as new navigational assistance systems.},

      Note = {In this paper a human-centred design methodology is presented to develop an Adaptive Bridge System (ABS) that adapts the content, distribution and presentation of information to an individual seafarer and to the whole bridge team. In CASCADe (FP7-SST.2012.4.1-1), model-based Cooperative and Adaptive Ship--based Context Aware DEsign, the ship bridge is seen as a cooperative socio--technical system. This cooperative system perspective is essential for our techniques, tools and design developments in CASCADe. We will show how our perspective and methodology supports the analysis of crew performance and leads to bridge system development that considers cooperation and situational awareness of ship´s crews. Besides the Physical Simulation Platform of the ABS, itself a ship bridge simulator, we develop a functionally equivalent Virtual Simulation Platform that is purely based on models of human and machine agents, their tasks and resources. The Virtual Simulation Platform allows us to evaluate bridge designs at early development stages by using computational models of virtual seafarers that mimic task execution, situational awareness, human--human as well as human--machine cooperation of real seafarers. },

      Abstract = {The commercial installation of offshore wind farms is still far from established standards or procedures and sets high demands on employees dealing with uncertainty and risks for personnel and material. In this paper, a process-oriented model approach is presented to support operation planning and risk reduction, e.g. for the offshore wind industry. Maritime operations are characterized as dynamic and complex in terms of involving many different actors and resources in cooperative processes under harsh environmental conditions that we aim to integrate into one model. A conceptual model is the base to describe operations and for further analysis of operational risks. This paper introduces an exemplary offshore scenario, a jack-up vessel performing a crane operation. After transforming the model for execution in a multi-agent system, combined with a physics engine, our approach allows an automated simulation of critical offshore processes. Thus, it can be used to identify hazards, quantify risks and gain the necessary technical expertise. This approach can be applied in order to meet the requirements of the health, safety, and environmental aspects for the operation of offshore wind farms. Furthermore, the potential of an assistance system using our gained process knowledge to support operational safety during offshore operations is considered.},

      abstract = {Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) is a versatile imagining modality whose popularity is increasing exponentially in the neuroimaging society. Recent studies showed that fNIRS can be used to quantify and classify mental workload in an n-back task in a simple and artificial lab setting [1]. Our research attempts to quantify workload in a more natural driving scenario with multiple parallel tasks using fNIRS. Nine young adults participated in this study where they drove in a driving simulator for a period of 100 minutes while we continuously recorded fNIRS data. We used an n-back task (n ϵ \{0, 1, 2, 3, 4\}) to induce different workload levels forcing the participants to remember the previous one, two, three or four speed signs and adjust their speed accordingly while they interact with traffic in the VR-scenario. Our results indicate that measuring the hemodynamic responses from the bilateral prefrontal cortex (PFC) can be used reliably to quantify cognitive workload levels even in more complex naturalistic tasks.},

      abstract = {Driving is a complex and cognitively demanding task. It is essential to assess the cognitive state of the driver in order to design cognitive technical systems that can adapt to different driver cognitive states. Our research attempts to assess these states using fNIRS by measuring brain activity in a naturalistic driving scenario. However, the fNIRS brain activation measurements could be influenced by muscle activity and we wanted to investigate this phenomenon. For this, we designed a paradigm with two conditions (listen, teeth clench) which show a significant contrast in the influence of muscle activity. We observed that the muscle hemodynamic response can show a higher magnitude of signal change compared to brain hemodynamic response. The muscle hemodynamic response showed an increase in HBR whereas the brain hemodynamic response showed a decrease in HBR. Moreover, the dynamics of the brain and muscle hemodynamic response differed. The brain response showed the same latency for HBO and HBR while the muscle HBR response had a slower latency compared to HBO. We concluded that the fNIRSbrain activation measurements could indeed be influenced by muscle activity. We were also able to determine some characteristics of the muscle hemodynamic response.},

      Abstract = {This paper focuses on modelling driver intention and behaviour at roundabouts in order to provide information on whether or not a driver intends to leave the roundabout when approaching an exit of a roundabout. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems? effective work depends on adequate driving intention recognition and behaviour prediction, so if the driver intention and behaviour at roundabouts can be modelled and predicted, the roundabout safety and efficiency can be significantly improved. As the driver intention recognition is basically a pattern recognition problem, the machine learning theory is a good candidate for training models. The data for training and validating the models has been planned to be gathered from both the laboratory controlled simulation and field study.},

      Abstract = {Delay differential equations (DDEs) arise naturally as models of, a.o., networked control systems, where the communication delay in the feedback loop % between controlled system and controller cannot always be ignored. Such delays can e.g.\ prompt oscillations in otherwise stable feedback loops and thus cause severe deterioration of control performance, invalidating both stability and safety properties. Despite the omnipresence of feedback delays, state-exploratory automatic verification methods have until now concentrated on ordinary differential equations (and their piecewise extensions to hybrid state) only, failing to address the effects of delays on system dynamics. We overcome this problem by iterating bounded degree interval-based Taylor overapproximations of the time-wise segments of the solution to a DDE, thereby identifying and automatically analyzing the operator that yields the parameters of the Taylor overapproximation for the next temporal segment from the current one. By using constraint solving for analyzing the properties of this operator, we obtain a procedure able to provide stability and safety certificates for a simple class of DDEs.},
