The Institute of Social Sciences in the School of Educational and Social Sciences at the University of Oldenburg seeks to appoint a

Junior Professorship (W1) in "Sociology of Social Inequality"

commencing as soon as possible. The initial appointment will be for a period of three years and may be extended by another three years, subject to a positive evaluation. The research and teaching activities of the applicant should cover central areas of the sociology of social inequalities, in line with the focus of our Bachelor's and Master's programmes. We are looking for a candidate with a strong record in inequality research or a related area of studies (such as education, labor market or social policy research). In addition, experience in analysing social inequalities in a European or international comparative perspective is desirable.

The candidate should have an excellent scientific profile, as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications in the above-mentioned fields of study. We value not only publications in nationally and internationally peer-reviewed journals, but also experience in the acquisition and implementation of externally funded research projects. Interdisciplinary cooperation is an asset, as is an international orientation and relevant teaching experience. The job holder is expected to contribute to the research conducted at the Institute of Social Sciences and outlined in the faculty profile "Participation and Education". Since the Universities of Bremen and Oldenburg have a cooperation agreement, active collaboration with colleagues from Bremen is expected.

The successful candidate has an excellent academic degree and experience in teaching and research, as demonstrated by an outstanding dissertation. If a candidate was employed as a research associate or research assistant before or after obtaining his or her doctorate, the total period of doctoral studies and employment must not exceed six years.
