I am a researcher in the Media Informatics and Multimedia Systems Group. I got interested in Human-Computer Interaction during my university studies at the University of Oldenburg. In my master thesis, I developed an ambient light display consisting of multiple LEDs as add-on for a tablet PC. My research is still focused on ambient light as a new display modality. Currently, I am searching for a way to unobtrusively display information to drivers to enhance safety and comfort without disrupting them from their main driving task. Hence, I am interested in automotive user interfaces, ambient displays and HCI in general.
I develop my concepts and prototypes following user-centered design. Therefore, I conduct various user studies, including for example interviews, usability tests or experiments in a driving simulator.
My work contributes to the project “The Car that Cares”, where we investigate how to develop socio-technical car systems that continuously adapt to the current situation, given by internal and external contexts, such as driver’s state or traffic situation. The project is part of the “Interdisciplinary Research Center on Critical Systems Engineering for Socio-technical Systems”.
