Fees and financing your studies
Studying always costs money.
The University of Oldenburg is a state financed institution, and most courses of study do not require tuition fees. However, all students do have to pay semester fees.
Have a look at the list of the various fees, so that you can see what to expect.
All students pay a semester contribution. This includes contributions for the semester ticket, Studentenwerk, student body, DIY bicycle repair workshop and administration. In addition, there are also fees for long-term study beyond the standard period of study and for supplementary subjects.
Tuition fees in professional development or fee-based degree programmes
Students who are enrolled in a professional development degree programme or fee-based degree programme must also pay the semester contribution in addition to the tuition fees. The semester contribution includes contributions for the semester ticket (not applicable for online courses), Studentenwerk, the student body and administration. The long-term study fee (EUR 500) is charged if you are enrolled in an undergraduate degree programme at the same time.
Financing your studies
Information and advice on financing your studies, for example on student loans, is available from the Student Administration and Social Welfare Organisation (Studentenwerk). You can find out about your entitlement to BAföG and other options here.
