Oberseminar Eingebettete Hardware-/Software-Systeme

Titel: Model-based ensurance of real-time communication in industrial distributed systems

Abstract:

The paradigm shift of industrial distributed systems transitioning to more unified topologies leads to the need for maintaining timing and bandwidth constraints for time sensitive processes. The Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) Standard allows separation of time critical traffic following the TDMA scheme. Configuration of such systems is cumbersome and potentially error prone. Thus, it is important to integrate the configuration already within the model of the system and automate the process. Above that, specifying the communication in the model allows for verification of the timing behaviour as early as possible during design time.

In the manufacturing domain, the standard IEC 61499 for modelling industrial distributed control systems provides many important functionalities except for a way to specify the communication model. Therefore, this work aims to establish a new way of modelling communication using the IEC 61499 standard as a basis. This further enables integration of assumption/guarantee contracts for timing verification of the overall distributed system.
